The Birthing Center at Southwest Health

If you’re expecting, it’s common to feel excited, nervous and a little fearful all at the same time. The Birthing Center at Southwest Health gives you the personal care you and your family need to help prepare for and deliver your newborn in a warm and caring environment. There is no greater experience in life than giving birth to a child which is why our classes provide the confidence and knowledge you need to make your child’s birth the joyful experience it should be.

Childbirth Preparation Class

Our childbirth class will help you to approach your due date with confidence. Through supportive preparation, we’ll help you make the birth of your child the joyful experience you want it to be. Plus, our class will give you a better understanding of the growth of your baby, the changes taking place in your body, and the process of labor and delivery.

Stages of labor, breathing and relaxation techniques, complications, taking care of your newborn, and postpartum concerns are all thoroughly covered.

This one day class is held on the following Saturdays from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. It is best to attend the program that is nearest your due date. This is a FREE class for those delivering at Southwest Health and costs $40 per couple for those delivering elsewhere. Lunch will be provided.

Newborn Feeding Class

Designed for both new and experienced parents, this class will take you step-by-step through breast- feeding basics and formula feeding. Learn proper technique and other helpful hints for a great beginning for both you and Baby! The classes are held on the following dates from 6:30 to 8:30 pm (unless otherwise noted). This is a FREE class for those delivering at Southwest Health and costs $5 per couple for those delivering elsewhere.

Infant CPR and Car Seat Check Class

If you are pregnant and planning to deliver your baby at Southwest Health Center, you now have a unique and FREE class designed to help yourself and 3 others closest to you to be able to respond and help in an emergency.

We have a special CPR class for your family and friends. Designed for people with no experience and a stress free environment. Enrollment is limited. Maximum 15 people per class. Minimum 5 people in order to have the class.

Please bring your car seat and the car seat manual/instruction book to class for education on car seat installation and safety checks by trained staff.

Please note- this class does not provide any certifications.

Classes are held in the EMS conference building from 6pm-9pm.
